The Red Tree

This recent trip to the Kruger Park was good. It managed to open my eyes to a different palette and a multitude of contrasting textures. This painting here, called A red Tree (banal, I know, but I couldn't think of anything), was started before I left but was never quite "right." It took a close encounter with the contrasts of acacia bushes, tall grass and myriad of insects to show me what it was missing in terms of richness and texture. I got home last week, burning to finish it and... well... I did.
