I treated myself to a massive new canvas a couple of months ago, and it had always been my intention to revisit the Cuhthulu mythos. I then proceeded to try all sorts of variants on the theme of a massive, dark and forboding thing slowly rising out of the waters. None of them really worked, so I tried a different tack: I made the sea itself appear to rise and heave. The result is unsettling and unpleasant (well, to me, at least), especially since I managed to add the little tendrils and tentacles dripping down as white run-offs.
